The Nomizo Method

Our program focuses on game based and investigative peer to peer learning where kids will love the learning process.

Nomizo means ‘to think’ in Greek

Think, Play, & Learn

The Nomizo Method is designed to make learning highly engaging and effective by incorporating elements of play and inquiry, allowing students to explore subjects deeply and collaboratively. The curriculum is structured to develop critical life skills that are often underrepresented in traditional schooling, such as problem-solving and critical thinking.

Nomizo’s activities engage the three power realms.

Complexity Icon

Engaging With Complexity

Life involves constant judgements, large and small, with imperfect information and no right answers. Whether it is in your career, your family, or with your friends, you have to learn to make sense of complex problems to make wise decisions. Nomizo’s curriculum teaches students to embrace complexity and give it order. Nomizo teaches students how to think so they are prepared for a world that demands it.

Nomizo Strategy & Tactics

Strategic, Tactical, and Analytical Nuance

We live in a dynamic world in which problems do not stand still.  Whether in business or personal matters, the challenge we faced last month can now take on a very different form. A dynamic world requires dynamic thinking, so Nomizo’s curriculum faces students off against moving targets, rather than the static learning pervasive in traditional schooling. Nomizo trains students to think strategically while adjusting their tactics to the situation.

Nomizo Interpersonal Skills

Interpersonal Analysis, Communication, and Persuasion

It is nearly impossible to live a fulfilling life without learning to successfully engage with others. Likewise, the better our interpersonal skills the more we can accomplish. In traditional schools one can become an ‘A Student’ without developing emotional intelligence, social skills, and verbal persuasion. The Nomizo Method fills that gap and more, pushing students to collaborate, empathize, communicate, and convince each other.

Developing Your Power Realms through our 4 activity types:

Critical Thinking

Critical Thinking Challenges

These are games and puzzles that develop problem solving, logical thinking through dynamic challenges, and interpersonal capabilities. Nomizo’s Critical Thinking Challenges have been sequenced and leveled, from beginner games with just a couple of tactical maneuvers, to the ultra complex, with asymmetric winning conditions and the need to form imperfect alliances. Students climb up the difficulty ranks in Nomizo’s Critical Thinking Challenges, leading to personal growth across all the Power Realms.

Fun Math

Fundamental Math

We use board games to solidify math foundations in a visual form that creates lasting understanding. Nomizo sequences its math curriculum using Common Core standards, tracking a student’s mastery across dozens of key skills. Often a student’s math struggles are due to a cracked foundation that is now exposing itself. The Nomizo Method analyzes each student’s foundation to find and fix their areas of weakness, putting them in a position to succeed. So whether you are a younger student learning multiplication for the first time, a high schooler feeling lost in Algebra, or a strong student looking for deeper understanding, Nomizo’s Fundamental Math helps you win the battle.

Rigorous Investigation

Rigorous Investigations

These activities teach students to take on real life questions where there are no definitive answers, the inputs are undefined, and nuance is a necessity. Nomizo’s Rigorous Investigations provide students with a question, access to information, and a chance to collaborate with peers. Rather than debate or argue a side, students are taught how to attack such problems in search of truth. The Nomizo facilitators challenge students to be thorough in their analysis while never revealing the facilitator’s personal view. Nomizo develops how to think, not what to think.

Peer To Peer Facilitation

Peer Facilitation

This is another Nomizo tool for developing a student’s interpersonal capabilities, as climbing Nomizo’s ranks not only requires students to master activities, but also to teach them to others. The process of teaching requires Nomizo’s students to develop the empathy needed to understand why their peers are struggling, the intellect to find a solution, and the patience to help them reach clarity.

Leveling For Inspiration

What can you take on? What will challenge you at your current level without completely breaking you? At Nomizo we identify your capabilities and interests and place you in a position to succeed.  Our standards push for everyone to reach the top, we’re just saying that you don’t get to the double-black-diamond expert trail by starting there; you find your level and build up step by step.

Nomizo Powers You Up for Life Success

We believe in genuine learning that adapts to fit every student. Whether you are the struggling child, the uninspired student, or the thriving youth, Nomizo strengthens you today and prepares you for the future. With Nomizo, all kids can be great at something, building their confidence to take on the world.
